VAUCLUSE HOUSE 1

Designed as a series of extruded “boxes”, views and vistas have been given a priority in this uniquely located project. Each of the “boxes” offers deep recessed volume which provides for intimate sheltered outdoor spaces in the form of balconies and terraces. The stark forms, however, are further developed into a series of integrated horizontal & vertical palisades to provide natural light admission, whilst diffuse direct sightlines from closely sited neighboring buildings.

Landscaped light well and roof aperture are carefully placed to enable the multi leveled interior to relate to the outside environment. From the street, the simple form of the dwelling is accentuated with a “cob web” like metal screen which emits a lantern effect during nighttime.
