SPINE HOUSE

This 3 bedroom dwelling has been designed in response to the site’s unique north-south orientation. A spine, which consists of voluminous 6.5m high atriums, is introduced to act as ventilating heat stack and light well to the center. The linearity of the spine is further emphasized with an elongated reflection pond which also strengthens the tie between interior and exterior.

Public and private domains were carefully composed along the spine to capitalize the summer breeze & winter sun of the atriums. Material selection & detailing compliments the consistency & simplistic architectural language. Finally, a “playful” yet restrained inverted “L” element signifies the presence of the dwelling amongst the others along the streetscape.
